"Thanks for a great book.  Most e-books are small, almost pamphlets but the Desktop Search Handbook is great value for over 60 pages of info"    - Greg H, Lincoln, Nebraska.

About the authors

Peter Deegan has been the Editor-in-Chief and co-creator of the popular Office Watch (www.office-watch.com) series of free email newsletters since they started in 1996.  He has written several acclaimed computer books Desktop Search Handbook and Office Extras Handbook.  He's the winner of a Computer Press Association award and nominee in another year.  Peter loves live theatre, good movie or TV drama, innovative comedy and is addicted to the written word in any form.  When he's not delving into the dark secrets of Windows and Office, Peter travels widely, has visited and can be found typing away in airplanes, airports, cruise ships, café's and hotels across the world.

Maryjane Almer has been interested in art and web design for many years.  Even in high school she was making innovative and visually interesting web sites that were the envy of all who visited.   Since completing graphic arts at college she’s worked for a variety of companies on both web design projects and ‘old fashioned’ paper media (brochures, signs, business stationery etc).

She comes from a computer savvy family and combined with a life long inclination as an ‘arty’ person, becoming a graphic and web designer came naturally.   Since 1999 she’s operated mjpix.com.  “ Good design always makes me happy; I can’t stand bad design, like the overuse of Times New Roman and Comic Sans. My current favorite fonts are Futura (book/light) and Helvetica Neue (light).

When not working on a MAC or PC, Maryjane will be found relaxing with friends, surfing the net, lazing on the beach, going to a music festivals or gigs, checking out the nightlife or dreaming.
