Description
Access report features only go so far. If you want to create elaborately formatted documents filled with Access data then you have to work with Word.
Helen Feddema, editor of Access Watch, shows you many different ways to put your Access data into Word documents.
New! Fourth edition
including code, templates and sample databases
for Office 2013, Office 2010, Office 2007 and Office 2003.
Letters, Lists, Labels and more
Fully explained examples for many types of ‘Access to Word’ projects (with samples included for you to use):
Plus a chapter on importing data from Word form fields/content controls to Access. (Just one of the new chapters in the 3rd edition.)
There are five methods of getting Access data into Word documents, Access Archon: Working with Word (third edition) goes through all five of them discussing the advantages and disadvantages.
Separate chapters describe how to create Word documents filled with Access data using Word document properties, bookmarks, the TypeText method, mail merge and now also document properties.
There is also a discussion of using Word form fields (or, for Word 2007, content controls) to allow users entry of additional data into documents produced from Access and a technique for embedding templates in OLE Object or Attachment type fields is described, for an idiot-proof way of delivering Word templates for use in exporting Access data.
There’s even the possibility of user entry of more data on-the-fly, and especially if you want to produce separate documents to save in folders on your computer, the best method is to create Word documents from templates in VBA code, and fill them with data from Access.
Finally, Helen gives tips on debugging your VBA code.
The ebook comes with detailed examples, sample databases with working code and Word templates ready for you to use in your own projects. Supplied files come in fully compatible versions each for Office 2013/2007/2010 (.accdb/.dotx) and Office 2003 (.mdb/.dot) formats. No conversions necessary.
